As a passionate lover of both the sea and fine dining, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of combining these two passions into one unforgettable experience. Recently, I had the privilege of visiting and having lunch on the illustrious yacht S7 during the Cannes Yachting Festival. Let me take you on a journey through not only the exquisite menu but also a glimpse into the remarkable features of this triple award-winning vessel.

 

Yacht S7: A Marvel of Modern Luxury

S7, formerly known as SEXY FISH, represents the pinnacle of yacht design and engineering. This remarkable vessel is part of the Tansu Mothership Series, and it’s not just a yacht; it’s a floating masterpiece. Delivered in 2016, S7 was meticulously crafted with a focus on guest comfort, and it boasts premium Dutch engineering that ensures a smooth and luxurious journey.

One of the standout features of S7 is its advanced technology, including electric stabilizers and thrusters, as well as a hydraulic system designed to minimize noise and vibrations, ensuring that every moment on board is one of serenity and relaxation.

However, it’s the outdoor spaces that truly set S7 apart. The aft deck offers ample space for sunbathing, water toy adventures, or simply basking in the warmth of the sun. The sundeck, with its retractable roof and central bar, provides panoramic views of the stunning surroundings. The main deck offers shaded seating areas for dining and socializing, while the exposed aft deck gives guests the freedom to utilize the space as they please.

A Gastronomic Delight on the High Seas

Now, let’s talk about the culinary adventure that awaited me on board S7. The menu, curated to perfection, combined traditional South African flavors with international influences.

AMUSE BOUCHE
The journey began with a delightful amuse bouche – traditional Pickled Fish served on black seeded bread. This flavorful bite was perfectly complemented by a glass of Whispering Angel Rose, setting the tone for what was to come.

STARTER
The starter, Slap Chip Bobotie with a Cape Malay Chutney, was a harmonious fusion of flavors. The rich, spiced bobotie paired wonderfully with a Septentrio Saint-Joseph Shiraz, creating a symphony of taste.

MAINS
For the main course, I savored the pan-seared Seabass with Grilled Asparagus, Carrot, and French Green Bean Parcel, finished with a Burre Blanc Sauce, served table-side. The Seabass was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was truly a work of art. It was paired with a Pascal Jolivet Sauvignon Blanc, a refreshing choice that complemented the dish beautifully.

CHEESE COURSE
A cheese board followed, featuring a selection of French cheeses accompanied by South African nibbles. This course was paired with Baronne Pauline Sauternes, offering a sweet contrast to the savory cheeses.

DESSERT
Finally, a Cafe Gourmand stole the show, presenting a trio of traditional South African desserts. The combination of textures and flavors in this dessert trio was a grand finale to an unforgettable meal, perfectly accompanied by a shot of espresso.

My experience on yacht S7 at the Cannes Yachting Festival was a remarkable blend of luxurious living and exquisite dining. From the cutting-edge technology and design of the yacht to the culinary masterpieces served on board, it was a day filled with indulgence and beauty.
