Exciting news has emerged from the coastal paradise of Croatia, as ACI, the country’s state-owned marina operator, has secured a prestigious 30-year concession to develop a brand new marina in the vibrant city of Rijeka. Teaming up with German company Gitone Kvarner, a division of the renowned Lürssen group and a local tourism and hospitality firm, ACI is set to embark on its most significant capital project to date—a remarkable €50 million marina development.

The Rijeka marina project was first unveiled by ACI at boot Dusseldorf 2023, generating tremendous anticipation among boating enthusiasts and industry professionals. Now, with the official concession granted by the Croatian Ministry of Transport, ACI-Gitone is poised to bring their vision to life in the picturesque Porto Baros area of Rijeka.

Spanning an expansive 106,000 square meters, the new Rijeka marina will epitomize luxury and sophistication. With an impressive capacity of 230 berths catering to boats of various sizes, including an average size of 16 meters (53 feet), the marina promises to be a haven for discerning seafarers. ACI-Gitone’s ambitious goal is to achieve the esteemed Five Gold Anchors Award, a distinction currently held by only three marinas in Croatia, two of which are already operated by ACI. This commitment to excellence underscores their dedication to providing top-tier facilities and services to boat owners and visitors.

The development of the Rijeka marina represents a monumental milestone for Croatia’s marina tourism sector, as well as for ACI itself. With a rich portfolio of 22 marinas dotting the enchanting Croatian coast, ACI is no stranger to delivering exceptional experiences for boating enthusiasts. This new venture, however, marks their largest investment to date, signaling their commitment to further elevating the country’s reputation as a premier yachting destination.

Beyond the economic impact of this significant investment, the Rijeka marina project is set to generate over 130 job opportunities, contributing to the local economy and fostering growth in the tourism sector. The development is expected to attract a steady stream of visitors, captivated by the beauty of Rijeka and the allure of Croatia’s magnificent coastline.

As ACI-Gitone sets sail on this extraordinary endeavor, anticipation builds among boating enthusiasts worldwide. The promise of a world-class marina, complete with state-of-the-art facilities and unparalleled service, beckons those seeking the ultimate yachting experience. With the resounding success of their existing marinas and their unwavering dedication to excellence, ACI-Gitone is well-positioned to shape the future of luxury boating in Rijeka and reaffirm Croatia’s status as a haven for maritime enthusiasts.
