The 8th Mediterranean Yacht Show, a major event in the yachting industry, has come to a close, and this year’s Chefs’ Competition was a huge success. The theme of the competition, “Zero Waste From The Greek Seas”, challenged participating chefs to create signature dishes using raw materials from the Greek seas while incorporating all parts of the chosen main ingredient in any form. The aim was to reduce food waste and champion sustainability in the kitchen.
The judges, including Chef George Papazacharias of Delta Restaurant in Athens and Chef Antonio Mellino of Quattro Passi restaurant in Nerano, Italy, both awarded with two Michelin Stars, were impressed with the chefs’ visionary thinking, bold flavors, and refined techniques. After two days of intense competition, the winners have been announced.
In Category A, Emmanouil Perros of M/Y Zen won first prize, while Tatiana Konstantinidi of M/Y Hakuna Matata won first prize in Category A Platinum. Their creations demonstrated their skills in using every part of the main ingredient, resulting in dishes that showcased the richness of the Greek seas and culinary culture while reflecting innovative techniques through an original and dynamic approach.
The award ceremony for the Chefs’ Competition was held at the Valaora Restaurant, where the winners were presented with their awards. It was a truly spectacular evening that set the tone for the final day of the MEDYS 2023. The participating chefs have not only become ambassadors of sustainability in gastronomy but also showcased their creativity and innovation in the kitchen.
We congratulate the winners and all the participating chefs for a successful and memorable competition. This year’s Chefs’ Competition has highlighted the importance of sustainability in the kitchen, while showcasing the richness and diversity of the Greek seas. It was a wonderful opportunity for chefs to demonstrate their skills and passion for gastronomy, and we look forward to seeing what next year’s competition will bring.
