European marina operator D-Marin has signed an agreement to acquire Punta Faro Marina in Italy as its 16th marina. The transaction is the marina group’s first investment in the country, as it continues to expand its offering across the Mediterranean and Gulf regions.
Punta Faro Marina is based in Lignano Sabbiadoro, near Venice, Italy. With 1,200 berths, it is one of the largest marinas in the Northern Adriatic and is home to yachts of up to 40m.
Attended by local dignitaries and media from across Europe, D-Marin CEO Oliver Dörschuck highlighted the importance of the Punta Faro Marina acquisition, adding that the company will make a seven-digit investment in the marina that will see the introduction of a high-speed wireless network and smart pedestals using innovative, eco-friendly technology. D-Marin also plans to completely revamp the marina’s sanitary units along with improvements to the existing piers.
“We are committed to investing in the marina as part of our mission to create sustainable and advanced marinas for today and future generations,” Dörschuck said. “New technology will provide improved customer experiences through increased digitisation including the rollout of advanced online booking and boat security systems. We see ourselves as an integral part of the local community.”
