CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON NEW SUPERYACHT MARINA IN SPAIN
Gran Marina del Estrecho will be one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean and a base for superyachts of any length
Construction is about to begin on an exclusive marina in the south of Spain that when finished will be able to accomodate 80 berths of between 30 and 100 metres in length along with two berths for cruise ships.
Gran Marina del Estrecho will be one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean and a base for superyachts of any length. Strategically placed in the Strait of Gibraltar, the €50m investment will see the construction of an esplanade of singular buildings providing some 11,100 sqm of commercials and marine related services.
The Yachting Club building and the shopping area adjacent will form the heart of the marina, a space dedicated to the crew and offices for companies involved in the maritime world, top quality restaurants, SPA & Beauty, lounge bar with views over the marina, among other services. It will also have exclusive spaces for crew members.
Spread over two floors, the Yachting Club will be equipped with a gym and fitness room, spa, beauty area, restaurant and commercial premises and a large service area for members, including office facilities.
There will also be a selection of fashion boutiques and accessories along with a Multipurpose Commercial Building measuring 7,600 sqm, distributed over two floors. The ground floor with more than 4,000 sqm will have a large area for boating and nautical equipment, leaving the rest for food, accessories, personal equipment and complementary services to the commercial and port area. On the first floor there will be a large hostelry area with 12 premises and large terraces with excellent views of the Bay of Algeciras and Gibraltar.
The marketing of retail space and berths is now underway with a good initial uptake for both, the developers claim.
Construction, which is expected to be completed in 2023, will be carried out by Sacyr Construction SA, one of the biggest construction companies in Spain, while design and management will be handled by Jimenez-Casquet Gestion Integral de Proeyctos SL.
The developers are Grand Sport Dealer SA and the MENONA Group with La Linea City Port SL acting as SPV.
