Marine Project visits Sunreef shipyard in Gdansk as part of the Polboat Yachting Festival
Formed in 2002, Sunreef Yachts is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Polish multihull yacht and superyacht builder, Sunreef Yachts, is continuing to expand its new shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, while also developing a new €30m yard in Ras Al-Khaimah in the UAE to specifically meet orders from Asia and the Middle East.
Artur Poloczanski, Sunreef’s public relations manager, told during a visit to the new yard as part of the Polboat Yachting Festival press tour: “The new yard currently extends to 10ha but we are buying more land to expand it further. We are still operating at our old shipyard and we currently have 36 projects in build, of which the larger number are at the old shipyard.”
He explained that the new Gdansk yard comprises eight halls, all of the same size, of which six are assembly build sheds and the other two are used to build hulls and superstructures. In addition, a new state-of-the-art paint hall is due to be completed in early August that will be able to accommodate two boats at a time. Around 1,000 people are employed at both shipyards.
The yachts in build range from 15.2m up to 49m (160ft) but most are power and sail catamarans between 50ft-80ft. The Sunreef Yachts range includes both sail and power multihulls up to 100ft for power cats and 114ft for sail cats.
The new Ras Al-Khaimah shipyard in the UAE will extend across a 65,000m² land reserve, on which the construction of the first 13,000m² building will begin within the following weeks.
In another move, Sunreef Yachts is extending its sales network with a new Turkish office in Istanbul.
