Navigare Yachting to represent Island Spirit Catamarans
The Swedish firm will represent Island Spirit Catamarans in Europe and the US

Navigare Yachting has teamed up with Group Island Spirit (GIS) to represent Island Spirit Catamarans through an exclusive distributorship in Europe and the United States. The collaboration expands on the long relationship previously established between the yacht charter operator, Navigare Yachting, and GIS, the Thailand-based manufacturer with charter locations in Phuket, Koh Chang and Koh Samui, Thailand.

In a statement, Navigare Yachting says it is looking forward to supporting the launch of GIS’ latest innovation in catamarans fitted with electric propulsion starting with the all-new Island Spirit 525E. The EV catamaran is set to debut at the Annapolis sailboat show in the autumn of 2023.

“We could not be prouder nor more excited by this unique opportunity to help propel the Island Spirit Catamarans brand to the top,” says Jesper Rönngard, founder and CEO of Navigare Yachting. “Whether yacht buyers are looking for private ownership or a revenue-producing placement in one of our charter fleets, we stand ready to help them decide if this is the right catamaran for them.

”With the general enthusiasm of boaters for electric propulsion, there is no doubt the new IS 525E will position itself very well in the market,” he adds. “Besides the obvious appeal for a more environment-friendly yacht, the early trials reveal an impressive performance.”

Ronald Patston, CEO of Group Island Spirit, says: “I cannot think of a better fit than Navigare Yachting to meet this challenge and launch the 525E.

“We’ve kept the news of the new Island Spirit 525E very quiet until now and have pre-sold the first three hulls. At this pace, we expect the first year of production to sell out rapidly and we urge those interested in learning more and reserving a production slot to contact Navigare Yachting now.”

Navigare Yachting is a premium charter operator of sailing yachts, with over 300 monohulls and catamarans in 10 countries. Founded in 2001, the company partners with some of the world’s most renowned ards, including Jeanneau, Beneteau, Dufour, Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, and Bali Catamarans.

Navigare Yachting is also a dealer of Jeanneau sailing yachts and Lagoon Catamarans in Sweden and the new distributor of Island Spirit Catamarans in Europe and the USA.

    Island Spirit 525

The IS525 has been developed through multiple partnerships to match customer requirements to the ideal vessel design based on years of experience in the charter industry. Island Spirit is a unique builder as we also operate a large charter fleet.

In the development of the IS525 a key aspect from the beginning was to be able to design the boat with the electric drive option.

The key to getting boats successfully to market with electric drive means that it needs to meet some very specific criteria:  first and foremost that it is affordable, second is that it is safe and reliable and finally is that it is functionally practical.

To meet these goals Group Island Spirit partnered with major system developers in the EV industry for the development of the drive system.  As we all know, fully electric vehicles are now available from every major automobile manufacturer and today there is over 400,000 EV buses in widespread use the globe.

The technology has matured and our strategy is to leverage on this mature technology for the implementation into the IS525
