This coming October, Sibenik, Croatia, is set to welcome over 150 participants from the yachting industry. This gathering, organized by Green Sail, aims to foster connections among charters, marinas, and individuals who share a passion for preserving the sea and its environment within a relaxed nautical atmosphere. The event’s primary focus is on promoting discussions and initiatives related to sustainable tourism development in Croatia.
The two-day event, described as both a regatta and a sustainable tourism team gathering, will commence with engaging panel discussions on sustainable tourism. These panels will feature industry experts and officials from Croatia’s Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure, as well as scientists specializing in relevant fields.
Green Sail, as detailed in a news release and reported by Croatia Week, is dedicated to advancing sustainable nautical tourism in Croatia with the aim of preserving the country’s natural beauty. Through its Marina and Charter Programs, Green Sail collaborates with charter companies, marinas, institutions, and environmentally conscious businesses and individuals. They provide valuable educational resources and activities to promote sustainable practices.
On the second day of the event, participants will enjoy a sailing regatta in Sibenik Bay, followed by an underwater and beach cleanup. The occasion will culminate in an awards dinner, during which prizes will be awarded for the regatta’s top performers. Additionally, recognition will be given to companies whose employees have successfully completed Green Sail’s online courses in sustainability.
Grant Seuren, co-founder of Green Sail, emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “By bringing together a diverse group of key stakeholders within the organization, our goal is not only to facilitate connections among vital players in the Croatian nautical sector but also to contribute to the growth and promotion of responsible and sustainable nautical tourism in the region.”
Green Sail’s team event has garnered support from sponsors including the Šibenik Tourist Board, NonCarbon, a company employing innovative methods to reduce carbon emissions from vehicle engines, and MacGlide, a provider of anti-fouling paint protection.
