Marina di Ragusa under new management

RECENT ARTICLES

Maltese businessman Paul Gauci has secured the concession to operate Marina di Ragusa in Sicily. The latest development comes as the entrepreneur continues to work on establishing a catamaran link between Malta and Italy’s largest island.

Mayor of Ragusa Peppe Cassì told local business website QdS.it that Gauci has gained control over the company that operates the facility by buying its debts. “But it is not a matter of ownership, it is always a matter of management under a concession,” said the Mayor.

Gauci is the founder and majority shareholder of Malta’s PG Group, a holding that is involved in various retail operations. Among others, it runs the country’s PAMA shopping mall.

The harbor of Marina di Ragusa is one of the most equipped and efficient marinas in Sicily, at the heart of the Med. A few steps from the village center. The harbor is a modern infrastructure that welcomes sailors and berth holders with a mooring assistance service available all year long, for a total of 700 berths for boats up to 50 mt. Located on the southern tip of Sicily, Ragusa has a population of more than 74,000 inhabitants, according to Italy’s National Institute of Statistics.
