Location potential

Pakoštane, a charming coastal town located on the Adriatic Sea, holds immense potential for the development of a nautical tourism port. Situated along the pristine coastline, Pakoštane offers a picturesque setting that is increasingly appealing to maritime enthusiasts and travelers seeking coastal adventures.

The spatial plan of the municipality sets the stage for the construction of a nautical tourism port in Pakoštane, outlining the parameters and opportunities for the port’s development. The plan emphasizes the importance of flexibility in designing the layout of the Nautical Tourism Port, recognizing that different areas may have unique requirements for construction, furnishing, and equipment.

One notable feature of this plan is the possibility of incorporating dry marinas, offering an additional option for boat storage and maintenance outside the main nautical tourism harbors. This versatility ensures that the port can cater to a wide range of maritime needs, from small vessel storage to comprehensive marina facilities.

Furthermore, the plan underscores the significance of the Urban Planning Authorities (UPAs) in facilitating the construction of the nautical tourism port. These authorities play a crucial role in the decision-making process and the issuance of location permits. While expediting the decision-making process is essential, it’s equally important to ensure that the process is thorough and considers all relevant factors.

Project description

One of the key areas highlighted in the spatial development plan of the municipality of Pakoštane is the village of Sv. Andrije on the island of Vrgada. This charming village, with its coastal beauty and maritime heritage, is earmarked for the construction of a nautical tourism harbor.
The project envisions the development of a marina with a capacity of fewer than 200 moorings. This considered approach aligns with the preservation of the island’s natural charm while providing essential facilities for maritime enthusiasts. The plan for Vrgada Marina falls under the UPU (Urban Development Plan), which outlines the specific regulations and guidelines for the project’s implementation.

As Vrgada Marina takes shape, it is set to become a gateway for travelers and sailors looking to explore the idyllic island of Vrgada and the surrounding Adriatic waters. The development of this marina promises to enhance the island’s appeal, offering secure mooring options for boats and yachts and creating a welcoming environment for those seeking maritime adventures.

Pakoštane and Vrgada exemplify the harmonious coexistence of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and modern amenities. As these projects unfold, they have the potential to elevate the tourism appeal of the region while preserving its inherent charm and tranquility. The development of nautical tourism infrastructure in these areas will not only cater to the needs of travelers but also contribute to the sustainable growth and economic prosperity of the local communities.

Project realization model

The construction and commercial use of the Vrgada nautical tourism port, i.e. the maritime property, is granted in concession for a period of 30 years, counting from the day of the conclusion of the concession contract. The concessionaire will be selected based on a public tender announced by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. Preparatory activities are being carried out for the purpose of calling for a public call for tenders for the award of a concession on maritime property.
