Amidst the charm of Nafplion in the Argolis Region, the 9th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) unfolded with an extraordinary theme: “Cooking the Orange.” This year’s competition paid homage to the vibrant lands of Argolida and its beloved treasure—the orange. Chefs were tasked with showcasing the versatility and allure of this iconic Mediterranean fruit in their finest main course dishes, capturing the essence of culinary innovation.

The Competition

Against the backdrop of picturesque Nafplion, talented chefs from luxury yachts presented their delectable creations, each infused with the radiant flavors and aromatic zest of oranges. From tangy sweetness to refreshing acidity, the orange served as a muse for culinary excellence, inspiring chefs to push the boundaries of creativity.

Distinguished Judges

Guiding this culinary journey were esteemed judges Chef George Papazacharias of Delta Restaurant in Athens and Chef Luca Piscazzi of Pelagos Restaurant at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens. Their expertise and discerning palates added prestige to the competition, ensuring that only the most exceptional dishes claimed top honors.

Announcing the Winners

After days of intense culinary showdowns and gastronomic delights, the winners of the Chefs’ Competition were revealed during a cozy evening at Valaora Restaurant. Chef Sotiris Mpempedelis from S/Y ΝOVA clinched the coveted first prize in Category A, showcasing remarkable talent and culinary artistry.

In Category A Platinum, Chef Aristeidis Vlachogiannis of M/Y AFRICA I emerged triumphant, impressing the judges with his exceptional dish. The winners of the tablescaping competition, Myrto Bambeti from S/C ALMA and Michael Papalekakos of M/Y ANCALLIA, captivated with their exquisite table settings that beautifully complemented the culinary creations.
