THE CORONA CRISIS AND THE SPANISH CHARTER MARKET
No doubt – Mallorca is a real paradise for sailors and powerboat clients. Crystal-clear water, mostly constant wind conditions all year round, lovely anchor bays and a comprehensive range of charter boats of all sizes attract thousands of yacht tourists to the Balearic Islands every year.
But the current corona crisis is shocking the entire travel industry. Cancellations and hardly any prospect of new bookings for the 2020 season are of concern to charter operators worldwide.
The first priority in these times of crisis must be to reduce the own costs. The sometimes-horrendous berth prices in the charter host spots like the Balearic Islands can now hardly be coped with.
The relocation of at least parts of the charter fleets to cheaper ports will be essential for survival.
For charter operators in the western Mediterranean, modern marinas on the Spanish mainland offer berths at affordable prices. At distances of less than 100 nm to Mallorca, you pay a fraction of the fees of the Balearic Islands. In recent years there has been a clearly recognizable trend that one or the other charter operator has moved the berths of its fleet from Mallorca to the mainland at least during the winter period.
Now it is time to recognize the signs of the times and to book cheaper berths on the Spanish mainland more seriously than before, before space is running out and prices are rising.
The necessary care, maintenance and repair work on the boat can also be offered in a marina on the mainland with the same quality at a significantly lower price. The MARINE PROJECT GROUP has many years of expertise in the charter business and is specializes in arranging cheap berths on the Spanish mainland. All-year berths, winter berths in the water or hard stand on land, including extensive support from our experienced German management, are part of the MARINE PROJECT portfolio.
We would be happy to support you!
