News from Greenline Yachts: the world’s leading provider of alternative propulsion powerboats, has teamed up with Canal Boats Telemark AS, W-Yachts and Torqeedo to launch the world’s first fully electric charter fleet.
Norwegian charter operator Canal Boats Telemark is sending six new Greenlines – two 33s (10 meters) and four 39s (12 meters) – into the water, all equipped with the revolutionary E-Drive system. Since their market launch, the all-electric Greenlines have enjoyed great popularity worldwide – especially in the USA, Germany, Scandinavia and Russia.
Thanks to advanced lithium batteries and electric motors, the Greenline models (with E-Drive systems) sail silently and with zero emissions, reaching top speeds of 11 (GL 33) and 10 (GL 39) knots. In each case, one charge of the 80 kWh battery is sufficient for a range of up to 40 nm.
Greenline’s new Norwegian partner has a unique charter location in Porsgrunn, in the south of the country, for a very special vacation experience. The picturesque town not only offers a breathtaking coastline, but also access to the Telemark Canal, along which the leisure captain can see impressive mountains and forests. Transport connections are very good: the town of 35,000 inhabitants can be reached by plane, ferry or train.
With government support, Canal Boats is working on a concept to prepare the region for the new times. Similar to Tesla, they are aiming for a network of charging stations that will transform both coast and canal into a unique electric paradise. This would make the region the first cruise destination of its kind in the world and hopefully a blue or even green break for the rest of the world.
