A Historic Breakthrough
On 22 May 2025, PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI), in partnership with state‑owned port operator Pelindo (PT Pelabuhan Indonesia), officially broke ground on the Bali Benoa Marina, Indonesia’s first full-service yacht marina designed to international standards.
This major milestone is aligned with Indonesia’s ambition to elevate Bali as a premier luxury marine destination in Southeast Asia, as envisioned through the broader Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) master plan

What’s Planned: Facilities & Services
The Bali Benoa Marina spans 3.3 hectares, offering:
- 180 total berths, with capacity for up to 50 superyachts measuring 90 m or less
- Full-service maritime support: docking, vessel repair, fuel systems, haul‑out areas, and maintenance facilities
- Lifestyle amenities, including a premium yacht club, crew club, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) venues, retail promenade, dining, and office spaces
- Advanced dock utilities via smart pedestals from Plus Marine (Italy), offering remote-controlled power and water access
- Services managed by Discover Luxury Indonesia, which will coordinate yacht provisioning, crew logistics, port clearances, and curated island itineraries
Strategic Vision
MDI’s President Director, Ulf Backlund, envisions the marina as a necessary global-standard gateway to showcase Indonesia’s archipelago and attract yachting visitors worldwide.
Pelindo’s Strategy Director Prasetyo emphasized that the marina is a flagship initiative within Pelindo’s transformation strategy to position Indonesian ports as world‑class maritime tourism gateways integrated into both domestic and international cruising routes.
