Construction crews are onsite and have begun demolition of deteriorating docks, the first US$100m phase of a 17-step overhaul totalling US$400m.
Dana Point Harbor Partners, LLC, a collaboration between Orange County and three real estate development firms, have produced a master plan that “connects the harbour’s landside and waterside to become a singular cohesive waterfront experience,” according to the Harbor’s website.
Led by Bellwether Financial Group, which runs the marina operations including the boat slips, boater facilities, dry boat storage, day-boat parking and launch ramp areas, the other two partners are RD Olson Development, leading the hotel redevelopment and hospitality components, and Burnham Ward Properties is responsible for stewarding the harbour’s Commercial Core activities featuring the retail, restaurants, offices and other landside buildings, as well as all parkscape areas.
The partnership secured the renovation project in 2018 through a 66-year lease from Orange County.
