From the end of May, New York City and the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca will once again be moving closer together. As it did last year, the airline United Arlines will then again offer direct flights from Liberty Airport in Newark (New Jersey) to Palma de Mallorca. The first flight leaves New York on May 26 for Mallorca. Up to and including September 27, vacationers and business travelers can fly back and forth between the Balearic Islands and the U.S. metropolis without a stopover.
Three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays), flights depart Palma at 11 a.m. for New York in a Boeing 767. Conversely, jets bound for Mallorca depart there at 7 p.m. local time on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The prices for a return flight are depending upon season between 700 and 2000 euro per person. On flight comparison stock exchanges in the Internet such as Skyscanner.com offers were listed even starting from 400 euro.
Due to the high demand registered in the last year, it is recommended to book in time. Particularly in September 2022, flights from New York to Mallorca were booked up to four weeks in advance. The connection was one of the most profitable and, with almost 100 percent occupancy, most frequently used vacation routes for United Airlines during the summer months. It has been suspected since last year that the Newark-based airline could add other direct flights to Mallorca to its schedule, such as Los Angeles or Boston. So far, however, none of these plans has been implemented.
