As the Mediterranean yachting season hits full stride, Van der Valk Shipyard has introduced a brand-new star to the waters. Just as the Cannes Film Festival wrapped and the Monaco Grand Prix roared to a close, the Dutch shipbuilder launched its latest 35-metre tri-deck superyacht — LALABE — into the world. Formerly known as Project Samba, this sleek all-aluminium vessel touched water under bright blue skies in the Netherlands, entering the final phase of her build before delivery later this summer.
The launch was witnessed by LALABE’s discerning owners, who were intimately involved in every stage of her custom design and construction. With her sea trials and interior fit-out now underway, LALABE is on course to begin her first cruising season in the Med. Her international debut is scheduled for September at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, where she will make a glamorous entrance befitting her name and spirit.
Drawing inspiration from the multi-award-winning Lady Lene, LALABE blends Van der Valk’s proven naval architecture with an entirely bespoke design by Guido de Groot. Built on a fast displacement hull capable of reaching 17 knots, every detail above the waterline has been designed from scratch to reflect the owner’s vision of relaxed, multi-generational family living on the sea.
From her name to her layout, LALABE embodies rhythm — the rhythm of nature, of family, and of the ocean itself. Her aft area reimagines the idea of a waterside terrace: expansive and elegant, featuring alfresco dining, plush lounge areas, a beach club with sauna and steam room, and a transformer platform for effortless access to the sea. She’s a true sanctuary afloat, where comfort, luxury, and functionality converge.
Inside, the seamless transition between exterior and interior continues. On the bridge deck, sliding glass doors open the upper saloon on three sides, creating a hybrid living space that blurs the line between indoors and out. This is yachting redefined — not just as a mode of travel, but as a lifestyle in perfect harmony with the sea.

Held each September in the heart of the Côte d’Azur, the Cannes Yachting Festival is a cornerstone event of the international boating calendar. With displays ranging from small tenders to world-class superyachts across the Vieux Port and Port Canto, and with the iconic Palais des Festivals as a backdrop, it’s the perfect stage for LALABE’s grand debut.
